Edelweiss kennels was established in the United States in 1894 by Franz Fleischli grandfather of Anna May Fleischli Brown. Originally Edelweiss was mainly a Saint Bernard kennel. We did raise Great Danes, English Setters, English Pointers, German Shepards and Bostons.
Joseph H. Fleischli, son of Franz, imported and showed many top winning Saint Bernards into the United States. Ch. Gerd V.D. Lueg v. Edelweiss is credited with 21 all breed Best in Show wins, plus the St. Bernard Club of America's National Specialty 3 times. Gerd sired many litters and can be found in some of the top pedigrees today.
Anna May Fleischli Brown began showing dogs at the young age of 12 years. Anna May is also an AKC licensed judge as was her father, Joseph.
Kathy Beard-Knoles began showing dogs in Junior showmanship classes. She started out with an English Pointer soon to be replaced with a Whippet. Kathy also showed her own Saint Bernard bitch Ch. Edelweiss Silver Foxx. Kathy now shows Chinese Crested and sometimes Mom's Shih Tzus although her heart is with the Cresteds.
Amy Beard started showing Shih Tzu at age 5.
She soon graduated to Chinese Cresteds
